Giving back: conservation and impact

At Encompass Africa, giving back is not an afterthought, it’s at the heart of everything we do. For us, tourism isn’t just about enjoying time in someone else’s country. It’s about learning, understanding, and showing compassion. The natural world has never been more under threat, and we believe it is everyone’s responsibility to play a role in preserving it.

Our philosophy

We partner with African suppliers who share our commitment to conservation and sustainability across three pillars: wilderness, wildlife, and community. By working with like-minded people, we ensure that every safari not only delivers unforgettable experiences but also supports local people and protects the ecosystems our guests come to see.

How we give back

We believe in action, not just words. Around 10% of our profits go directly to causes, charities, and organisations across Africa. Over the years, we’ve:

• Raised funds for conservation through high-end events, including over AUD 10,000 for The Mara Trust from a single photography auction
• Contributed AUD 25,000 to rhino relocation efforts to protect this endangered species
• Supported wildlife education programs for children in Rwanda
• Raised funds to build a five a side soccer pitch in one of Cape Town’s townships, creating safe spaces that benefit children and their communities
• Backed numerous community and conservation initiatives simply by saying “yes” when needs arise
• Donated over 50 desks and supplies to schools in rural Tanzania in 2024/5

And this is just the beginning. We don’t keep a complete running tally because our philosophy is simple: when there’s an opportunity to make a difference, we step up.

Our referral program

When a past or existing guests refer friends who book with us, we donate AUD 100 to a charity (of their chose) from our annual giving list that changes each year. This allows us to spread support across a wide range of projects throughout Africa.
