A single well-managed lodge employs hundreds of local people, supports local suppliers and farmers, funds anti-poaching operations and makes the economic case for keeping wild land wild rather than converting it to agriculture or development.
Without visitors like you, it would not exist.
Tourism done carelessly does the opposite. It extracts value from a destination without returning it. It funds operators who perform conservation rather than practice it. It leaves communities poorer and ecosystems more vulnerable than it found them.
The difference between those two outcomes is the decisions made before you board the plane.
That is our job. It is what we agonise over, obsess over and spend countless hours in the field understanding.
