Ehlane Plains Camp turns 1
Open a year now, Ehlane Plains Camp on the eastern plains of Serengeti National Park has quickly grown in popularity amongst our guests. This intimate luxury camp has five tented suites and a family suite and two of the tents boast the most stunning stargazer sleepouts in Africa.

About Ehlane Plains Camp
The name Ehlane means ‘wilderness’ in Zulu and is aptly applied to a luxury camp located in the vastness of the eastern Serengeti. Ehlane Plains Camp is committed to leaving a light footprint on the environment and making sure guests are immersed in the beautiful savannahs that the Serengeti is famous for. There are eight tents here so it’s nice and intimate. Social areas include a stunning tent with bar, lounge and dining. Most dining is done outside weather permitting to really feel like you’re in the wilderness. There’s a family tent with plunge pool – great for kids and activities on offer include game drives, guided walks and optional balloon safaris (addition cost).
Extra touches at Ehlane Plains Camp
One of our favourite experiences other than the Serengeti safari with wildlife abundant is the sleep-out star dome… Picture sleeping under the stars with the calls of the wild resonating around you and lulling you to sleep (or scaring you to death if you’re a first-timer!) We love how the camp collects fresh water from springs within the park and uses solar power for lighting to try and be as efficient as possible.
Wildlife at Ehlane Plains Camp
This camp is well-positioned in the Serengeti to maximise viewing of the great migration that moves through the plains between October and December. Expect to see wildebeest and zebra in impressive numbers feasting in the fresh grasses around you. Throughout the year the resident wildlife is enough to impress with predators like lion, cheetah and spotted hyena not to mention the plains game.
The camp closes in the wettest months of the year, April and May.
