Like minded travellers, local guides
Are you interested in Africa tours? That’s fantastic news. You’ve come to the right place.
Here we share a little bit about our Africa tours and link you up to some great tips for travelling in groups along with some fantastic group tour itineraries for inspiration.
Please keep in mind we have so many tours available to you it’s impossible to keep them all on the website and updated. What we have here is a small sample to get you thinking!
We prefer to chat with our guests and find out what interests you, when you can travel and the budget you have in mind. Then it’s easy to identify a small selection for you to consider – otherwise it’s rather overwhelming in the research phase.
What’s so great about group tours?
Africa tours allow you the opportunity to explore and share experiences with others who have a similar mindset. At the end of the day, travel is about having fun, experiencing new places and meeting new people.
On our Africa tours all of the details are taken care of. With a tour leader or guide by your side, all of your transfers, activities and accommodations are planned ahead of time and not by you! A tour leader can also help alleviate any issues that may emerge as a result of travelling.
Africa tours also often provide great perks like line skipping, special treatment and exclusive access.
One of the best parts of being on an Africa tour is learning from the other travellers you are with. Since everybody brings different cultural backgrounds and learning experiences to the table, they can offer unique insights and perspectives to the things you see and do together.
There is no price on sharing memories and experiences with others. In fact, sometimes your travel memories become so bound up in who you were with when you toured Africa it is hard to say whether you enjoyed the place more or being with others to experience it.
Of course, Africa tours can also make a difference on your budget because group tours split costs with more people. (Solo travellers note there are some tours that don’t charge single supplements, so please ask us!)
Our way with Africa tours
We offer small group tours, meticulously planned and guided by local experts to guarantee a great experience. You will journey through Africa’s impressive countryside where wildlife, diverse cultures and fascinating history abound and friendships can form. We handpick our African group tours based on a criteria to guarantee great comfort, convenience and experience for our guests:
- 4×4 vehicles customised for maximum wildlife viewing and comfort rather than tour buses
- Window seat guaranteed on wildlife tours (if you are on a tight budget, we do have a handful of tours that take more people so you share time at the window and it keeps costs down)
- Highly qualified guides with great personalities
- Non participatory tented or accommodated so you are not pitching tents and stirring pots – instead you enjoy every moment whilst touring Africa (we have a select few participatory tours for those on a tight budget)
- Exceptional guaranteed departures with minimum of 2 travellers
- Some waive single supplement at certain times in the year
Who travels on Africa tours?
We find Africa tours are most popular for those older travellers who like the ability to travel in a group environment for socialising and a sense of security. Plus the added benefit of a leader keeping them organised. Tours are also popular amongst solo travellers because it gives you the freedom to explore alone with the added protection and advantages of travelling with other like minded individuals.
Finally, travellers on tight budgets (please note we don’t offer backpacking tours, only mid to high end here) enjoy Africa tours because they can be more cost-effective travelling in groups.
Where should I go on tour in Africa?
There are so many countries to choose from. We have fantastic tours available in exotic locations like Morocco and Madagascar through to the quintessential safari destinations like Botswana, Kenya and Tanzania.
There are gorilla trekking tours in Rwanda and Uganda plus longer tours in those countries so we get a Big Five safari experience along with cultural interactions and more.
We also offer brilliant Namibia tours and a handful of South Africa tours. Keep in mind South Africa is so easy to travel and group tours are often in larger numbers because infrastructure allows it (air conditioned luxury coaches between locations and then multiple smaller 4×4 vehicles when you’re on safari).
See a collection of itineraries below.
When should I go on an Africa tour?
Depending on where you want to go, there may be some months better than others. Keep in mind July and August will always be busier and a little more expensive as it’s high season in Africa plus the summer holidays for those living in the USA, UK and Europe.
Namibia, Botswana and South Africa are great all year round depending on your preferred season and temperature! Kenya small group tours and Tanzania tours run most of the year and timing is often determined by what part of the wildebeest migration you wish to see. Don’t forget Rwanda and Uganda group tours are mostly year round too!
Is there a downside about Africa tours?
This is not necessarily a downside for those who love group travel. There is just a set itinerary with strict times and less flexibility and independence. Equally, you need to be patient, kind and empathetic because you spend an intense, concentrated period of time with other people.
Why book through EA?
We offer you the tours at the same price, sometimes cheaper than if you book direct and our team can put other arrangements together for you too like flights, insurance and additional nights accommodation elsewhere in Africa. This means you have all of your arrangements organised by one company that offers 24/7 guest in Africa care whilst you travel.
Remember we also offer Signature tours that are special interest area focused and guided by Australian professionals in their field and tailormade itineraries designed exactly right for you.
