International Holiday Africa Deal #1

Botswana Secret Season

What’s hot: The huge diversity of camps that are offering crazy prices in the green season. Our tip – the May ‘secret season’

What’s not: The end of year heat can be a struggle. Having said that most camps and properties have outdoor showers, plunge pools, fans or even air conditioning to keep you cool. Keep in mind it does rain sometimes, never for days on end, and grey like elsewhere in the world.

Our feature deal: Machaba Safaris offering a special rate when staying 6 nights at Machaba Camp and Gomoti Plains

Price: AUD6,465.00 per person based on two sharing

Save: AUD555.00 per person

Inclusions: 6 nights accommodation, all meals, local brand drinks, activities, park fees, light aircraft transfers from Maun.

Ts & Cs: Valid for travel between 11/01/19 -31/05/19 and 01/11/19 – 10/01/19

The Okavango Delta is one of the most famous safari destinations in Africa; offering phenomenal wildlife viewing and a variety of activities from game drives to walking safaris, mokoro (traditional dug out canoes) trips, fishing, and boating. This enormous panhandle floods every year, the flood literally breathing life into the Delta. Given the size of the region, staying in two locations allows you to see far more of its beauty, and the longer you have, the more chances to see everything you hope to. Our favourite camps are those under canvas; sleeping in a luxurious tent is the way to go, and Machaba Safaris delivers this experience perfectly. Begin with three nights in the Khwai concession in the north east of the Okavango Delta before finishing with 3 nights at Gomoti Plains, located on a private concession – meaning you will see no other vehicles. But stay aware as animals really are around every corner with the extremely exciting news that white rhino have been spotted in the area. Book in quick whilst there is space!

International Holiday Africa Deal #2

Tanzania Stay Pay Discounts

What’s hot: The wildlife, the scenery, the camps, the sunsets. It is a must.

What’s not: Very little! The wildebeest migration can only be predicted to a point, this year they bucked the trend and migrated later than usual.

Our feature deal: Nomad Tanzania offer a stay 7 pay for 5 nights

Price: AUD8,715.00 per person based on two sharing for June 2019

Save: AUD1,840.00 per person

Inclusions: 7 nights accommodation, all meals, local brand drinks, activities, park fees, light aircraft transfers from Arusha

Ts & Cs: Valid for travel all months aside from July and August. Pricing here applicable to June 2019. Lower prices apply for other months.

Tanzania is one of all time favourite safari destinations for good reason. Huge herds of elephants in Tarangire National Park with exciting night drives and walking safaris, stunning views in the Ngorongoro Crater with its plentiful wildlife, and the jewel on the crown: the Serengeti, with its vast, endless plains, wildlife every which way, and of course the seriously impressive wildebeest migration. It isn’t called the Great Migration for nothing.

Nomad Tanzania, who own and operate some of the best camps in Tanzania, all are authentic tented camps, situated off the beaten track locations ensuring a true wilderness experience. Waking up in the Serengeti to the sights and sounds of the animals is unforgettable.

International Holiday Africa Deal #3

Zimbabwe Green Season Saving

What’s hot: Raw, authentic safari experiences untouched by mass tourism

What’s not: It can get both very hot and very cold but camps are prepared for both scenarios.

Our feature deal: African Bush Camps free flight offer

Price: AUD6,990.00 per person based on two sharing

Save: AUD700.00 per person

Inclusions: 9 nights accommodation, all meals, local brand drinks, activities, park fees, light aircraft transfers between camps

Ts & Cs: Travel between Apr – May 2019. Smaller savings exist for travel between June – November 2019

Zimbabwe has never been off our map, but it is well and truly back on the safari map and 2019 is the year to go. New lodges abound, old lodges re-vamped, and some staying just as they are (why change a good thing!); the safari offerings here are top notch. Zimbabwean guides are some of the best in the field and with such amazing wildlife to be seen our advice is get in now, before everyone catches on.

Travel with African Bush Camps, staying in three of their stunning Zimbabwean Camps. Begin in Mana Pools for 3 nights, listening to lions roaring at night, spending days out on game drives, and keeping your eyes peeled in camp as visitors are regular. Then, head to Lake Kariba to the newly opened Bumi Hills. Luxury awaits by the lake with walking safaris, fishing, game drives, and boat trips, or simply enjoy a stunning view. Finish in Hwange where you will compete for a poolside seat with masses of elephants; some of the biggest herds in Africa are found here. The closest international airport to Hwange is Victoria Falls, so extend your stay and spend a few nights here, particularly at this time when the Falls are at their fullest.

International Holiday Africa Deal #4

Pemba Island, Tanzania, Green Season

What’s hot: Warm balmy days, white sandy beaches, clear seas and fresh seafood meals

What’s not: Low season can bring cloudy skies and some rain but temperatures remain warm

Our feature deal: Stay 5 pay 4

Price: AUD2,480.00 per person based on two sharing

Save: AUD325.00 per person

Inclusions: All meals, local brand drinks, one spa treatment per day, airport transfers, 6 nights accommodation in a superior garden room and one night in their underwater room

Ts & Cs: Valid for travel 1st March – 15 April 2019 & 25 May -30 June 2019

Pemba is an idyllic island; the perfect spot to kick back and relax after some time on safari. With just a short flight over from the mainland, you can swap the plains of the Serengeti for the underwater world of Pemba Island, neighbouring the island of Zanzibar. Wash off the safari dust, grab a mask and snorkel or a fishing rod and take to the sea. Stay on land and visit the local fish market, explore a historical fortress or absorb the local life in Chake Chake. Manta Resort is barefoot luxury, but the true highlight is their unique 3 story underwater room anchored in the bay where you will stay for one night. The sleeping level is located underwater so you may have a few prying eyes from tropical fish that evening! Two further levels above water offer you a living area and sunbathing platform by day and stargazing platform by night. A one off experience that will be the icing on the cake of a Tanzania journey. Manta Resort is perfect for those that want to relax, or it offers plenty of excursions for the more active adventurers!

International Holiday Africa Deal #5

South Luangwa Magic, Zambia

What’s hot: Wildlife in abundance, authentic small bushcamps in remote wilderness

What’s not: October can be very hot, so game drives are even earlier in the morning and later in the afternoon to avoid the heat of the day

Our feature deal: Shoulder season saving

Price: AUD4,320.00 per person based on two sharing

Save: AUD1,250.00 per person

Inclusions: Return transfers from Mfuwe Airport, 6 nights accommodation, all meals, local brand drinks, park fees and safari activities

Ts & Cs: Travel between 01 June – 30 June 2019 and 01 – 31 October 2019

South Luangwa is a destination for those seeking a truly authentic, raw, and traditional safari experience. The wildlife is second to none, the crowds of tourists are non-existent, the guides are absolutely fantastic (walking encyclopaedias you could say), and bushcamps with only 4 rooms offer an exclusive safari experience. Wake up to tea and coffee around the campfire and porridge cooking on the open flames, before heading out on a game drive or walking safari. South Luangwa is the home of the walking safari, a unique and insightful way to learn about all the smaller things you miss on the vehicle, and to see wildlife on foot – which offers a whole new dimension to the experience. Spend six nights or more across any of The Bushcamp Company camps and enjoy their brilliant service – nothing beats their special South Luangwa sundowners!
