Encompass Africa Collections

Join us in Africa

Dear reader,

We want to tell you about something we’ve been building. Honestly, we think it’s the best thing we’ve done at Encompass Africa.

You already know us as Africa specialists. Twenty-four countries. Seventeen years. A genuine, borderline obsessive love for this continent and the people who call it home. What you might not know is that for a long time, we’ve been thinking about a different way to share it with you.

Not just safaris. Journeys built around the things you’re already passionate about. Photography. Wellness. Running. Conservation. The classic safari experience, done properly. And destinations that aren’t on anyone’s itinerary yet, places we are still actively exploring ourselves.

Because here’s what we’ve learned after all these years: the best way to experience Africa isn’t through a generic itinerary. It’s through something you already love, shared by someone who loves it too.

Today, we’re launching the Encompass Africa Collections.

Themed journeys, each led personally by a member of our team, not a contractor, not a third party, always one of us and each designed to take you deeper into Africa than a standard itinerary ever could.

I’d love you to take a look. And if something speaks to you, start a conversation with us. That’s genuinely all it takes.

Drum roll, here’s what has gone live first…

In Focus: Photographic Safari Collection

The first Collection live is In Focus: Photographic Safari Collection and it couldn’t have a better person leading it.

Matt Yardley is our Pro Photo Safari Guide. Born in Zululand, trained at &Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve, 14 years in the field, National Geographic Expeditions on his CV, and a fine art wildlife photographer whose images genuinely stop people in their tracks. He doesn’t just guide you to the wildlife. He teaches you to see it, the light, the story, the moment before the moment — so you come home with photographs that mean something, whatever gear you’re shooting on.

And the first trip he’s leading is a big one.

Tanzania In Focus
Calving Season

24 February – 4 March 2027

Once a year, for a narrow window, the southern Serengeti becomes nature’s most extraordinary nursery. Thousands of wildebeest calves are born in rapid succession — and with them comes everything that follows. Predators reading the herd. Mothers fiercely alert. New life finding its legs within minutes because it has to. There is nowhere else on earth quite like it.

Matt will be there, alongside expert local Tanzanian guides who know this land intimately,  because it’s their backyard, their playground, and their workplace. Together, they’ll put you exactly where you need to be, when you need to be there.

This is genuinely small group travel. Just 3 photographers per vehicle, maximum 2 vehicles. No crowds, no compromise, a guaranteed window seat, and evening editing sessions with Matt around the fire so your skills grow as fast as your photo library does.

Spots are limited, and once they’re gone for this departure, they’re gone.
