Ask a Safari Guide

Encompass Africa is thrilled to announce the launch of its brand new Ask a Safari Guide YouTube channel

Everyday people ask us where should I go, what should we do. So we put together some videos to help you out. Whether you have a day, week, month or even a year, there is always something new to discover in Africa.

As African travel specialists we are full of so much knowledge and can give you the inside scoop on great places to go, things to see and do, the right time to be at the right place and so much more.  The thing is, not everybody wants to make contact with Encompass Africa straight away. Some people feel intimidated about working with a specialist. Others fear smaller boutique companies and prefer to work with their favourite high street travel agent.  Regardless, we saw a great opportunity to provide value and serve those who are seeking information on Africa.

So let’s delve into Ask a Safari Guide. What is it all about?

Ask a Guide is our solution to the lack of really useful, unbiased information on travel styles in Africa, destinations, certain wildlife, what to expect on safari and so much more. It allows us to go beyond the office and reach so many more people by creating videos. Combining our passion for travel, Africa and content creation is how Ask a Guide was born.

We debut a new video almost every Wednesday ranging from travel inspiration to industry interviews.

Our goal is to share some of the tips, insight and knowledge we have learnt over the combined 50 + years in the African travel industry along with advice on what to see and do, all of course from the perspective of African safari guides born and bred and travel specialists with years of experience and passion.

Spotlight on Guide: Dave Southwood

Dave grew up on a farm in Botswana and his attraction to the African bush was inevitable. Spending his formative years learning bout and experiencing every aspect of it was the ultimate starting point for his long standing commitment to Africa. After finishing school, Dave travelled the world to see what was out there that could rival Africa and came up empty handed.

Dave returned, became a qualified field guide and then spent many happy years guiding all over the continent.  With more than 20 years under his belt coupled with ten years’ working for Travel Africa magazine, Dave is an obvious choice to head up the Ask a Guide content generation!

Dave’s passion will always be Africa and the people that love and work in the industry.  To this day, Dave spends time in Africa and currently Australia lucky for us.

When you visit our Ask a safari Guide YouTube channel you will see Dave’s videos!
