border of Tanzania and Kenya, family safaris in africa

Tanzania, Family holiday of a lifetime – DeSouza Family

We had the most amazing holiday because Encompass Africa listened to us and they understood what we wanted from our holiday. When we were in Africa everything went smoothly and the contacts Encompass Africa have on the ground are so professional and most importantly so warm and friendly. Our holiday was the most wonderful experience for our family.

We had the most amazing guide, the accommodation was fantastic and as we expected, the food amazing and plentiful, and the wildlife was incredible because Encompass Africa knew where we needed to be at the time of year we were travelling to see the wildlife. I would definitely book another holiday with Encompass Africa and recommend them highly.

Joseph was a wonderful guide.   He was fun, knowledgeable, considerate and great with the kids.  He just knew how to make our holiday what we wanted and we were very sad to say goodbye to him as he truly made our holiday magical.  We still miss hanging out with Joseph, and being in our safari jeep, it truly was an amazing experience.

From the moment we arrived in Arusha to the moment we left, everything went smoothly.   The people we dealt with on the ground were amazing, so friendly, kind and accommodating.   We had enough time in Arusha to recover from our journey and to see the highlights of the town.   We really enjoyed the cultural and heritage centre experience.   Tarangire National Park was so green and lush and we saw lots of animals, a great introduction to safari life.

The elephants down by the swamp was a lovely experience and seeing the elephants by the river bank in the early morning was lovely too. We loved all the camps we visited but of particular note were Wayo Lake Manyara, Lemala Ngorongoro, Wayo walking camp and Olakira Camp.  Our experiences at these camps was truly special because of the camp staff and their ability to make us feel so welcome.

We had so many highlights on our trip from being charged and trumpeted at by a young male elephant, having 13-14 giraffes was between our camp and the lake edge at Lake Manyara while having a sundowner, seeing a gazillion flamingos, storks and pelicans and the hippos at Lake Manyara. Seeing the crater from the lookout point for the first time – it truly is a remarkable natural landscape, watching a cheetah relaxing in a dry riverbed in the serengeti, seeing lionesses hunting in the central serengeti, having a male lion in our camp and roaring outside our tent -we saw the footprints outside our tent the next morning! Seeing the big 5 and a wildebeest crossing all in one day!

If we were to do it again, would I change anything, not really as we really did have a wonderful time.  We cannot wait to return to Africa. Thank you for organising such a wonderful holiday for us – you nailed it!
