For a luxury escape in South Africa, look no further than Perivoli Lagoon House.

Just over two hoursdrive from bustling, cosmopolitan Cape Town lies this haven of peace and tranquillity.

This exquisite private home sits on a lagoon within a 140-hectare wilderness reserve of fynbos, the colourful, scented vegetation unique to southwestern South Africa. With extraordinary views over the lagoon and the majestic Klein River Mountains, its location is *chef’s kiss*. Words simply don’t do it justice.

In the nearby area you can enjoy all sorts of incredible experiences: kite surfing and shark cage diving, golf and horse riding, quad biking and visiting a big cat sanctuary. Wine tasting is also very popular in this part of the world.

The property itself also offers a huge range of activities, including mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, nature hikes, bird watching, guided fynbos walks and beach excursions. Theres also a state-of-art-gym, and decadent treatments aplenty at the onsite Milkwood Spa. When you stay at Perivoli Lagoon House you get two hours’ complimentary use of their private speed boat, skis, tubes and skipper. A private open 4×4 safari vehicle is also available for excursions to the adjacent nature reserve.

But honestly, you could be forgiven for never stepping outside the house… other than to step through the folding glass doors onto the large deck, where a spectacular heated infinity pool seems to float above the lagoon. The views of the lagoon and mountains from here are breathtaking, and the scent of the fynbos perfumes the air.

You can enjoy meals in the outdoor dining area and even stoke up the braai (BBQ), or step back indoors where there’s a beautiful dining area, fully equipped designer kitchen and separate scullery. Meals at Perivoli Lagoon House are something to be truly savoured: three farm-to-table gourmet meals every day, whipped up by a private chef and served at your convenience along with local brand spirits, beers, soft drinks and local award-winning wines.

As well as a private chef there’s also a private guide, butler and housekeeper to help you really settle in to living the very good life.

The open-plan living areas are gorgeous: bright and spacious, with stylish and sustainably sourced African artefacts adorning every room. Air conditioning and ceiling fans keep things cool during the summer, while in colder months there’s underfloor heating, a fireplace and eco-friendly pellet stoves to keep you toasty warm.

There are four beautifully furnished double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and private terraces. And because Perivoli Lagoon House is exclusive-use, even if its just you and your partner staying youll have the whole place to yourself. It’s the perfect place to recover from jet lag after a long flight, or to enjoy some down time after early mornings on safari.

Owned by the philanthropically focused Perivoli Trust, all profits go to conservation and nursery school children’s education in sub-Saharan Africa. So you can really feel good while you’re feeling good!
