Are you wondering where to stay when you’re in Johannesburg? There are some rather impressive options for accommodation in Johannesburg.
Luxury accommodation in Johannesburg
- The Residence sits in the historic suburb of Houghton and offers a subtle sophistication for guests seeking something special. Antiques, art, lush gardens, beautiful swimming pools, outdoor showers, jacuzzis to Champagne breakfasts, fine dining, sky spa treatments and charming staff.
- AtholPlace Hotel and Villa is in the stylish suburb of Sandton. Expect a peaceful setting, wonderful service from charming staff, a great location and truly romantic rooms. The restaurant is known for brilliant cuisine and you are close to a retail gourmet buffet of delight.
- Fairlawns transformed into a ‘country boutique hotel’ in 1997 and to this day remains a stunning option for those seeking casual chic style. There’s a fabulous spa onsite and high tea is a must for those with a sweet tooth. The restaurant serves great cuisine and breakfast is an elegant affair, best taken on the terrace when the sun shines bright.
- The Saxon Boutique Hotel, Villas and Spa. It is a well-established favourite amongst leisure and business travellers alike and accommodation is in stylish rooms, suites and spacious villas, many with own private plunge pools, terrace and lounge, satellite kitchen and butler service as well as a boardroom which may be converted into a dining room.
“Saxon Villas are for discerning guests seeking something a little more bespoke and private,” said Mr. George Cohen, Managing Director for The Saxon “The Villa offering is perfect for those who want five-star hotel service with the privacy and freedom of staying in their own space.”
Airport accommodation in Johannesburg
If you are literally arriving late and leaving next day, you may want to just consider airport accommodation. There are a few options to consider. Firstly, walking distance properties within the airport complex, then airport vicinity properties with courtesy shuttle buses and finally, hotels a little further away yet still avoiding serious traffic congestion and long driving times.
If time is not on your side, we highly recommend the airport hotels and fortunately there are two to choose from.
City Lodge OR Tambo was build in 2010 for the World Cup Soccer. It’s a neat hotel just eight minutes’ walk from the time you arrive. Rooms are comfortable and affordable and facilities include a small pool, gym, bar and dining area. Please note there are double, twin and single rooms. There are no triples available even with children so you’d need another room.
The Intercontinental OR Tambo is right at the airport too, providing convenience, style and upscale facilities. There is a great restaurant here too called Quills and a wellness centre offering beauty treatments plus an indoor pool.
