Claire and Hugh were looking for a really special trip to celebrate turning 50, so we looked a variety options before settling on a 13 night itinerary to Zimbabwe and Botswana that took in Victoria Falls, Chobe National Park, Botswana’s stunning desert, with a safari finale in the delta.
I want to thank you so much for putting together the perfect holiday. You are very clever! You completely ‘got’ what we wanted and the trip exceeded all expectations – it was just heaven. If this is fifty, then it’s not so bad!
We both absolutely loved our time in Africa and would have no hesitation in recommending you to our friends.
Victoria Falls was impressive and whilst we stayed on the Zimbabwe side, we got to see it from both sides with the activities you recommended and we booked.
The Falls and gorge walk with swim was great fun. The walk itself wasn’t tiring – probably only10 minutes down, 15 minutes up (or less even). There were guides there with plastic matting to help us on the slippery rocks. The whole thing from hotel door to door took about 4 hours I think so not too long. Was lovely to see the bridge from the Zambia side and all the car collections worked very smoothly.

They offered wet suits at the start which I would possibly recommend as the water was freezing! No need to take anything but wear swimmers under clothes obviously. You have to walk down through the national park path to the base of the gorge, then scramble along dry rocks (easy) and into a boat.
We all then paddled across the Zambezi which was great. We got off the boat at the other side and then had to scramble across the really wet rocks (the part I didn’t like so much) and swim across a couple of water holes to get to the part where you stand under a section of the falls. Obviously the water is not in full flow, but it still feels quite heavy. People have asked us what the most dangerous part of our trip was and for me it was scrambling across the wet rocks! Perhaps I was overly anxious about falling as I have had recent back surgery. Loved the experience and perspective of the Falls though.
