Encompass Africa was built on decades of lived experience across the continent, not from behind a desk, but out in the ‘field’. We have walked the conservancies of Kenya, tracked chimpanzees in Uganda, crossed the floodplains of Botswana, stood with community leaders in Zimbabwe, and sat beside conservationists protecting species on the brink.
But over time, something shifted.
We realised our role was not simply to design exceptional luxury safaris responsibly. It was to protect, preserve and improve the very ecosystems and communities that make those journeys possible.
We consider ourselves the restorative luxury African safari specialists.
Today, we exist for two reasons: To craft life-defining African journeys of exceptional quality. And to ensure those journeys leave Africa stronger than we found her.
That belief wasn’t formed in a boardroom. It was formed over decades in the bush, beginning with a boy in a VW Kombi watching elephants at a waterhole with his grandparents, and a chance meeting on an overland truck that traversed Africa with a girl that changed everything. The people behind this company have not simply studied Africa. They have lived it, loved it, and chosen to dedicate their lives to it.
From explorers to stewards
There’s something intoxicating about Africa, quite a number of things actually!
It’s the scale. The rawness. The humanity.
But Africa is not just a backdrop for adventure. It is a living system of people, wildlife and wild places that are intricately connected.
We choose to work only with camps, conservancies and partners whose presence protects land, uplifts communities and values wildlife alive over exploited. Not because it sounds good.
Because it is the only model we believe in.

The most spectacular lodge in Tanzania and the most remote camp in Botswana have one thing in common when they carry our name: they are protecting land, uplifting communities, and proving that extraordinary travel and genuine conservation are not in tension. They are the same thing.
The greatest luxury Africa offers isn’t the thread count or the wine list, though we’ll never apologise for those! It’s access. To privately protected wilderness. To guides whose knowledge runs generations deep. To landscapes where wildlife thrives because the people who built there chose to do it right.
