Making a difference…
As World Environment Day 2025 approaches, with its rallying cry to #BeatPlasticPollution, we’re proud to share the story of Ele Collection, one of our inspiring new impact partners working to protect Southern Africa’s pristine wilderness. Your safari with Encompass Africa can help fuel their mission to remove plastic pollution from Victoria Falls and beyond, ensuring this ecological gem thrives for generations.
A vision to restore a crown jewel
Southern Africa’s Victoria Falls, a thundering marvel surrounded by pristine national parks, is a crown jewel of wilderness. Yet, like many sensitive ecosystems, it faces the scourge of plastic pollution, bottles and bags that choke waterways and threaten wildlife. Ele Collection, a dynamic force for change, is on a journey to remove plastic for good, starting with Victoria Falls town and its surrounding parks, with sights set on the vast KAZA Region.
Their solution is both scalable and sustainable: collect plastic from every corner of the environment, recycle it into products that protect communities and ecosystems, and close the plastic loop. From littered riverbanks to remote trails, Ele Collection is draining plastic pollution, transforming waste into opportunity.
Collaboration at the heart of change
Ele Collection knows that tackling plastic pollution, a global crisis dumping 19-23 million tonnes of plastic into aquatic ecosystems annually – requires a united front. They partner with passionate organisations, local communities, and individuals to amplify their impact. From grassroots clean-up crews to innovative recyclers, these collaborations are the heartbeat of their mission.
“We can’t do this alone,” Simon said, Ele Collection’s co-founder. “With the support of fantastic groups and travellers like you, we’re building a movement to leave Victoria Falls cleaner than we found it.” Your bookings with Encompass Africa directly support these efforts, channeling resources to partners like Ele Collection who are reshaping the future of this region.
A ripple effect for the KAZA region
Of course Ele Collection kick started in Victoria Falls where the three gents are from so the immediate goal is to make the town a beacon of sustainability, free from plastic pollution. Their vision doesn’t stop there. Once Victoria Falls shines, they plan to expand across the KAZA Region, a sprawling transfrontier conservation area that unites five countries to protect Africa’s wildlife and landscapes. By recycling plastic into products that safeguard ecosystems, they’re creating a model that can ripple across Southern Africa.
This World Environment Day, Ele Collection’s work reminds us that small actions, like choosing a responsible safari, can spark monumental change. Plastic pollution threatens biodiversity, with over 800 marine and coastal species harmed by ingestion and entanglement. Yet, through collective effort, we can turn the tide.
