The documentation that we were provided with before our trip was very comprehensive & useful as we knew exactly what was going on at each place that we arrived and departed from. As we were travelling on our own it was very reassuring to be picked up at the various hotels and airports and driven to our destination, it just makes the experience stress free.
We were very happy with all of our accommodation. Three Boutique Hotel in Cape Town was really nice, lovely rooms & staff, nice breakfast & the manger Pieter was very friendly & helpful. Kapama Buffalo Camp – we loved our luxury tent, beautifully appointed and exactly as shown on their website.
Ilala Lodge – this hotel had a lovely british colonial feel and the breakfast and one dinner we had there were excellent. The rooms though older style were very comfortable. Muchenje Safari Lodge – lovely chalets and the winner of the most comfortable bed on our trip, great views from the rooms and lodge. Sands Resort & Spa – very nice resort, lovely spacious rooms & balconies, well kept grounds.
We saw greater numbers of wildlife in Chobe but greater variety at Kapama including a leopard on our very first drive. We preferred the private game reserve experience over the national park due to being able to go off road and go out at better times of the day. Also you are already in the reserve from the moment you leave the lodge.
