Begin with the incredible Victoria Falls, which is more than just a waterfall. See the falls in all their glory, visit a local village, enjoy a local lunch and a sunset cruise. Then depart for Botswana for some serious game viewing with both game drinks and boat cruises in Chobe National Park, before a combination of game drives, boat trips and mokoro trips at the serene Jackal & Hide Camp in the Okavango Delta. A classic Southern Africa trip taking in the sights, sounds, wildlife and scenery.

Can’t recommend them highly enough – we had an all-too-short trip to Botswana which Steph from Encompass Africa organised. It was our first trip to Africa and already we’re planning a return visit. From being met at the gate after landing in Joburg to an itinerary that ran like clockwork, the trip was easy and
much, much more than we expected. Photographically (courtesy of Pangolin Photo Safaris) it was brilliant; the award-winning Pangolin Chobe hotel (and guides Smart and Danielle) were great, the gin and tonic sundowners in the bush very tasty, and the bush experience at Jackal and Hide camp in Khwai Private Reserve just stunning. An unexpected bonus was the entire camp staff singing a traditional song on my birthday – then producing a cake with candles. Guide Steez and photo guides Danny and Barbara were terrific and camp manager Thomas greeting dusty guests with cool towels was a very nice touch. Planning an African Safari is daunting – too many choices – but Encompass Africa made it easy. – Neale Maynard
