So instead, here is our fast favourite four!!!!
1. Wilderness in Luxury
Beautifully nestled in the Serengeti National Park and bringing a new level of luxury to one of Tanzania’s UNESCO World Heritage sites, Bilila Lodge Kempinski ensures unforgettable encounters combined with spectacular views of wildlife and magnificent sunsets providing life-long memories.
2. Ultimate Namibia Safari – fly, drive, sail, walk
Why not combine four modes of travel on your African safari holiday to make the most of a country that excels in offering diversity in its landscapes, wilderness and wildlife.
Namibia’s Skeleton Coast conjures up mysterious visions of mist-enshrouded beaches strewn with bleached whalebones and rusted shipwrecks. This unique and remote wilderness will surprise and delight as you fly over in light aircraft. Combine this with a classic 4×4 wildlife safari to Etosha National Park. Next, fly into remote Caprivi Strip, situated in the pristine rivers and islands of northeastern Namibia and try your hand at tiger fishing with your own private guide and boat.
Visit one of our favourites, the AfriCat Foundation at Okonjima, the world’s largest cheetah and leopard rescue and release programme. Okonjima activities include tracking rehabilitated cheetahs on foot, visiting the AfriCat Welfare Project, tracking leopards in the 4 500ha private nature park and also offers a guided Bushman Trail.
3. Malaria Free Madikwe
South Africa boasts one of the most sensational game reserves for wildlife viewing, just 45 minutes flight or 5 hour drive from Johannesburg and the best part is it’s malaria free meaning no tablet taking! Madikwe Game Reserve is stunning and offers a range of accommodation options ideal for any traveller, honeymoon couples, retirees, families or groups of friends.
We recently stayed at Jaci’s Safari Lodge and Jaci’s Tree Lodge. These special lodges are nestled in the heart of Madikwe Game Reserve and in just three days we saw a pack of wild dogs and their pups kill and devour a buck, a boisterous black rhino, mud wallowing hippos, a pride of six lion, an elusive leopard up a tree, a hyena den complete with mum and pups, breeding herd of elephant thirty-strong, dancing male giraffes playing amongst the acacias and a massive herd of buffalo.
The tree lodge was my favourite with its raised walkways and tree houses hidden amongst the ancient riverine forest.
For that touch of special luxury and romance, I highly recommend Jamala Madikwe.
4. White Water Rafting and River boarding on the Zambezi
Commercial rafting first commenced on the Zambezi River in 1981 and since then, it has become one of the most popular adventure activities in Africa.
So after an African Safari holiday in the bush, come to either Zambia or Zimbabwe to experience the thrill of Victoria Falls and white water activities.
River boarding was introduced to the Zambezi Gorge in 1996 by Safari Par Excellence as part of their commitment to being white water specialists of the Zambezi. They offer trips that combine white water rafting in the long rapid lengths and in the ‘play spots’ along the way, river boarding where you can ride whirles and ‘squirt’ (best described as flying underwater).
One of our favourite camps is on its very own private island, Sindabezi Island Camp. Danica heads over in just three weeks to stay here and explore the area once again!
So there you have it. Our fabulous favourite four for today… Africa is diverse, magical and truly life-changing. So start planning your African Safari holiday with us.
