So many guests take 2 weeks off for a holiday to Africa. So whilst this is a stunning trip, it is wonderful to add in another component. Things that work well include:
A UNESCO World Heritage site, this impressive water fall has more on offer than first meets the eye. Activities abound here like helicopter flights over the falls for that aerial perspective; zip lining through the trees of the forest, sunset cruises along the river, hiking Batoka gorge and much more. 2 to 3 nights at a minimum makes this a great value add on to any luxury South Africa safari.
Keep in mind logistically you cannot get directly from Sabi Sand to Victoria Falls in one flight unless chartering. So there is a flight hop to Kruger Airport, then a flight to Livingstone on the Zambian side and a road transfer to Victoria Falls. Or you could have a night in Johannesburg and then fly up directly to Victoria Falls.
A little known piece of paradise and the ideal addition to Beauty and the Beast is Bushman’s Kloof. This reserve is on the West Coast of South Africa, a 3 – 4 hour drive from Cape Town. It offers a really relaxed pace so you feel like it’s an actual holiday. Luxury is high here and activities diverse from San bushmen rock art walks, game drives, canoeing, archery, mountain biking and a wonderful spa, it’s certainly got lots to offer men and women of all ages and is very child friendly too! It’s great for 3 nights so you get 2 full days on safari.
Many of our guests want to safari on land and sea. So a marine safari takes you to Hermanus where you can see whales from the shore or out in a boat and go great white shark cage diving. Best months are July – November.
For the months of June and July, you may like to go up to the Wild Coast and see the giant sardine run. Expect enormous bait balls of sardines closely followed by dolphins, whales, sharks and the Gannets that dive from above to get to the ball. it’s quite a spectacle but as you can imagine, totally weather dependent – worth the challenge!
Why not reverse the itinerary and start with the Beast, then the beauty of Cape Town and utilise the direct flight up to Maun, Botswana? We can recommend so many experiences in Botswana that would beautifully compliment a luxury South Africa safari like time in the Makgadikadi, Okavango Delta or Chobe.
So if you like the look of this package or prefer something tailored to suit, get in touch for your safari briefing. It’s an indepth and fun chat about all things you and Africa.
