Shamwari is a fantastic safari destination in South Africa as Chris Brown and Miguel Maestre from Channel 10s The Living Room found out recently. Here’s some great specials if you’d like to visit Shamwari in 2014.
‘Shamwari’ means ‘my friend’ in the Zulu language and we certainly know from personal experience that you arrive as a guest and leave as a friend.
This is a very beautiful and unique family owned safari destination on the Eastern Cape of South Africa and malaria free too plus not far from the famous Garden Route. So it’s ideal for families, those who love self drive holidays or first time safari goers.
So what does Shamwari offer? There are various accommodation options for you to consider. Visit our page for more information on Shamwari. [CLICK] or see the information below.
When it comes to activities, expect brilliant morning and afternoon game drives in open sided 4×4 vehicles. You’ll leave early in the morning and return for breakfast and then head out in the late afternoon and enjoy game driving into the night with of course a famous African sundowner stop along the way. In between game drives, you’ll relish the relaxing environment, swimming pool and even a gym and tennis court if you need physical activity.
Also available are guided nature walks in the company of very experienced armed guides.
The Born Free Foundation was set up at Shamwari to promote the conservation of species, to rescue wild animals from captivity and to raise awareness of the plight of these animals. We always recommend a visit to the big cats at the Born Free Foundation Animal Rescue and Education Centre which is on the property.
