Fantastic floods this year have led to an impressive amount of water running through the Okavango and Linyanti River systems which means an exciting season of canoe safaris on the Selinda Spillway.
We are very excited to see the water flowing in both the Linyanti and Okavango River systems, as this means we are in for a great season of canoeing on the Selinda Spillway. Joining a canoe safari is truly one of the most peaceful and magical ways to enjoy the wildlife of the region and is a journey of discovery as you explore each tributory and come nightfall, camp on the banks of the river.
The Selinda Canoe Trail is a 4 day, 3 night adventure that has you exploring these waterways with your private guide and fellow canoe enthusiasts. The 45 kilometre trail begins just downstream from Selinda Camp and continues eastward towards the convergence of the Linyanti and Kwando waterways. You will enjoy two full days and two half days of relatively easy paddling in Canadian style canoes with cushioned seats whilst you are on the look out for rare antelopes such as roan and Sable, as well as elephant, buffalo, incredible bird life and even cheetah, lion and leopard if you are lucky. You will stay in fly camps each night which conist of dome tents with comfortable bedrolls, hot bucket showers and short-drop toilets.
This unique safari is truly an exploratory adventure and has you paddling into areas that are rarely visited. What an exciting African experience!
