Great news for Canoe Safari lovers, Selinda Canoe Trail is now 1 night longer in low water season which will run 1 June to 30 August 2014. That means there is now time for an extra night and a full day’s walking safari on the 3rd day, exploring one of the most productive areas in the entire Selinda Reserve on foot.
Season 6 may very well be the last depending on rains and water tables, so if you’ve not been on a canoeing safari in Selinda, don’t miss the opportunity!
Imagine seeing leopards on foot, lions, herds of buffalo and elephant coming to the water to drink whilst you’re in the canoe and wild dogs which have been denning on the Selinda concession right near one of the Canoe Trail campsites.
Each canoeing day begins in the early morning after a hearty breakfast and when the Spillway is at its most peaceful. After an early coffee and snack, set off for the day’s adventure. Walking is part of the experience too and 2014 will be more extensive to allow for access to new islands and lagoons previously unexplored. Day 3 is a walking experience for 4 hours allowing you to investigate an area of regular predator sightings. If there happens to be activity that warrants investigation, you’ll stop on the banks and take a short walk into the bush! Now that’s safari holiday excitement only African safaris can offer!
Brunch is taken midmorning and light snacks available throughout the day for sustenance! At night, the deep silence is punctuated by nocturnal sounds from peeping frogs to roaring lion or the hyaena’s whooping call. The atmosphere is magic and perhaps the highlight of your entire trip.
GROUPS – this is fantastic for small groups and there is never more than 8 guests!
KIDS – Children from 12 years old can join in the fun too
