In 2002, Englishman Piers Winkworth packed his bags and went to Kenya for 3 months. 13 years later, Piers is still there with his wife and 9 month old son. They live in Nairobi and own and run Offbeat Mara and Offbeat Meru Camps.
Why Kenya we asked Piers? ‘There are so many things to love – the wonderful scenery, great weather, fantastic people and of course amazing wildlife.’
We then talked more with Piers about his commitment to Kenya and his passion was oustanding, addictive even! ‘Africa and Kenya needs its wildlife. This is a totally unique product that no other continent or country can boast. A decline in tourism will inevitably mean less money to fight the plague that is international poaching. In our small way as Offbeat Safaris we are helping this fight by bringing tourists to the country and using their money (conservancy/park fees) to help protect wildlife areas and by employing 100+ Kenyans we are putting a lot back into the country that we call home.’
Piers, like the team at Encompass Africa know that a visit to Kenya offers guests the unique opportunity to see phenomenal wildlife in off the beaten track locations, far from the crowds with some of Kenya’s best guides.
Now it’s time to profile Piers’ properties… they are some of our favourites for authentic, tented safari holiday experiences where the emphasis is on the people you meet, their smiling faces, abundant wildlife and remote places you visit. Activities are diverse too, so you can 4×4 game drive, experience a walking safari even a horseriding safari. Get Piers or one of his premier guides on a horse in this beautiful landscape and that will be the holiday you’ll never forget…
So don’t waste your time contemplating a Kenya Safari holiday. Get in touch today and we will work with you to plan an awe-inspiring, fully immersive and safe experience for you and your loved ones. We’ve got guests travelling all the time to Kenya and they can vouch for its beauty and life changing energy!
